OUR COMMITMENT TO SAFETY, DIVERSITY, INCLUSION, AND EQUITY
We do not tolerate conduct, behavior, or language that brings about a negative impact upon a program participant based on their race, color, ethnicity, national origin, gender, sex, sexual orientation, and/or religion. Furthermore, we do not tolerate any comments, messages, or conduct that demonstrates harassment, hostility, and/or aversion towards any participant that could reasonably be perceived as disruptive, disrespectful, offensive, or inappropriate.
Examples of such conduct, behavior, or language can include, but is not limited to:
Communications such as insults, slurs, epithets, ridicule, or rude comments;
Outbursts which include yelling, use of expletives, and/or destruction of property;
Microaggressions designed to undermine, demean, or devalue any participant based on their identity;
Questions, statements, or comments related to any participant’s sexual orientation or sexual history;
Unwelcome touching, including any form of physical intimidation or aggression, such as grabbing, holding, pulling, dragging, restraining, pinching, patting, rubbing, impeding or blocking movement, following, inappropriate contact or advances, bullying, and much more;
Statements, messages, or gestures which request physical or sexual favors, or otherwise suggestive communications in the form of letters, notes, texts, emails, or digital messages through various social media applications;
Statements or communications which sexualize a participant’s identity, clothing, appearance, or body;
Statements or communications which are considered “jokes” but are sexual in nature or otherwise inappropriate;
Statements or communications which are pornographic in nature;
Attempts to create an unwanted romantic, physical, and/or sexual relationship;
Statements and/or communications which suggest the willingness to, or decision to, attempt to influence a participant’s future based on refusal to do something. Such statements or communications may include reference to an ability to influence the participant’s current or future employment, career, academic, or other professional opportunities;
Threats, or other threatening behavior, against other participants;
Bullying, in which participants make statements that are false, hostile, malicious, disparaging, or derogatory, and are shared with the intent to hurt another’s well-being or reputation.
For the purposes of this policy, we do not tolerate the above noted conduct, behavior, statements, or communications whether they come in the form of verbal or written words, photos, videos, paintings, graphics, gestures, expressions, or graffiti.
